Came across this inquiry.... I see single pinch, double pinch etc.

What exactly am I looking for to identify what these are?

Does the type of pinch no pinch what spline etc usually date the 401?

Thank you in advance and pardon my ignorance....a pic is worth a 1000 words?.....

This is the only pic I have of the pedals atm and not sure if you can tell by this pic or not.

The bike is a 1986 and pretty sure they came on it.

Been doing some research and found during this era and on this manufacturer they started putting 401s to aid in their lack of production from OEM crank suppliers. Some info suggests these make em even rarer!....

It seems this booger may be a diamond.

And thank you Rob. Going to check that link!

Based on your link, mid-school half wraps as they call it.

Looks first generation as the pedals are "wrapped" and not welded, single pinch bolt halfways.....is my interpretation correct?....

Also believe this is what is known as a early model bubble font chainring.

Is there a more vintage vs poor quality vs model thing on this?
