I have installed a 3 speed ND conversion kit on my Hiawatha Chippewa project.

The "old man" is rather noisy and the crank seems to be slowed (or stopped) when on high gear.

I don't want to destroy it while making a bad use of it.

Does someone experience a ND conversion kit?

I had one of these mostly apart for a friend, but don't have extensive experience with them. Test drive it in a bike stand to fine tune the shifter adjustment. If you're installing it in a wheel that's currently a single speed coaster, then you'll have to re-dish the wheel or it will sit crooked in the frame.
    Cheers, Geoff

the triplspeed is a beast all it's own...
and yes there is all most no information on them...
most has been lost in time...
my best advice is to start by rebuilding the old new departure model D hub...
as a single speed and make sure it works correctly...
there's a brake down in the hub service diagrams...
    viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1162
    after the rebuild...
grease all the gears in the triplspeed...
remove the stock axle by taking the brake arm and brake side cone loose
remove the stock driver and axle by turning counterclock wise...
remove driver and axle as one assembly...
    install triplspeed assembly...
the cone adjustment is now the on the brake side using the square flat on the axle...
they are tricky to adjust the cable...
but make your adjustments in second...
    hope this helps...
if you have more questions i'll try to help as much as i can...
    oh one other thing...
    as opposed to most threespeeds...
    where second is direct drive...
the triplspeed direct drive is low...
that's why the srpocket is so big...

Thank you very much for your advices.

I generally use single speed hub and I am something like the worst handyman on earth.

I followed the instructions but I probably missed an important line.

I gonna make it looser certainly the reason why it's not that smooth.

I also learnt I must stop pedaling when I change gear and it's not written in the manual.

I took photos of the manual, here they are.

Very Cool. I gonna bookmark this for the How To Manual. Can I link some of the pictures to the Hub Diagram thread?

I RECENTLY DID ONE OF THESE AND ENCOUNTER TWO PROBLEMS

MODEL D HUB SHELL HAD AN OVERSIZED LIP WHICH PREVENTED THE TRIPLSPEED CONVERSION UNIT TO SIT FLUSHED WITH THE BALL BEARING SO I HAD TO GRIND DOWN THE HUB SHELL LIP

SECOND PROBLEM I ENCOUNTER WAS THAT I USED NORMAL BALL BEARING GREASE INSIDE THE PLANET GEARS WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A BAD DECISION SINCE THE GREASE WAS PREVENTING THE SUN GEAR (#35 IN THE PICTURE) TO ENGAGE SECOND GEAR SO I HAD TO USE WHITE LITHIUM GREASE WHICH IS A NOT SO THICK GREASE

I HAVE TWO BIKES NOW WITH TRIPLSPEED AND IT'S SO COMFORTABLE I JUST CAN RIDE A BIKE WITHOUT IT NOW

15+ MILES EVERY SUNDAY AND THEY WORK PERFECT, I ALMOST FEEL LIKE I'M CHEATING WHEN I'M RIDING

I am looking for New Departure 2 and 3 speed conversions to CAD model and add their exploded and sectional views to this site.
Does anyone have loner/donor parts that I can borrow?
    Local preferable (SoCal)
