Need info on 1949 Schwinn

This is a friends and we know it's a Oct of 1949 Schwinn but we would like to know the model it is. he needs a tank and rack and we also know the wheels are not Schwinn wheels unless they did not use Schwinn wheels back in 49 LMk any info you guys can give me please.

I'd say that's a Hornet, or the stripped version of the Hornet...whatever that was called. You have the Rocket Ray light, which is an expensive piece of the puzzle. The tank for that bike goes for $250 on ebay. You should be able to get the correct 9 hole rack for under $50. I think by '49 that bike should have had S2 rims. The ones before the S2 were drop centers, IIRC. Gary

I couldn't find any good pics from 49, but here is a page from the 1950 catalog. The stripped down Hornet is the standard, the bike in the center.
