"20" rat trap springer don't really exist (only 20" wheels on 24" springers)"

I think the Screamer 1's had 20" rat traps.

No those were 16" rat traps

I don't do much custom work by request but when I do I prefer to do something that has a real entertaining challenge. Thanks for providing that kingfish!

I'm glad we connected back when you got that Cycle Truck for me and that the NANNER PUDDIN frame is a fun and different challenge for you. You have built such a variety of styles, it's actually a tall order to find something new for you. Thanks again for the cool work you are doing on this. Enjoy your Colorado trip brother!

20" rat trap springer don't really exist (only 20" wheels on 24" springers). So I'm getting Paul to shorten a 26" Spaceliner rat trap springer fork that I got in a trade with @Dr. Tankenstein

First he mocked it up on the scaled picture to judge how much it needs to be shortened.

Then cut the main legs off just below the crown

Now is where cool stuff happens. Rather than just shortening the forks and welding them back on, he is going to reassemble the shortened legs back into the crown. To do this he used some carbide burrs and chewed out the old fork leg material from the inside of the crown. Tedious but ingenious work.

Seeing this work progress and especially seeing this picture once again assured me how lucky I was to get Paul to build this frame for me.

The open fork legs will be covered with the stock chrome trim that goes under the crown race. Lowers will be brazed for a factory look. Now I'll have a custom fork that looks stock! Now that's craftsmanship!

Excellent work! This will be a cool bike!

*I just wish I could've traded one of my 24" rat traps before it got shortened!

Here is another update on the work Paul has done so far on the frame.

Before moving to the jig, he used the scaled picture to mark up the placement of the tubes.

It's almost a roller! Still some work to do on shortening the springer arms.
Check out that classic Screamer stance! Man, I love this thing!!!!!
Excellent proportions with the wheels and just sexy!

The frame build is on hold for right now as Paul is enjoying a trip to Colorado.

Do you have plans the resurrect the original quarterdeck saddle? As you well know, those had a very distinctive profile.

Yes, it wouldn't be a Screamer without it.
The plans are use the old rusted out one as a guide and build a scaled version of it with a mix of other banana seat pans and added metal.

This is an incredibly good project. It's a noble concept, and it's being executed with obvious skill and panache. Nice job, so far.... i'll be following this one from here on ot.

I actually like the whole concept, a big boy muscle bike. Using blown up print outs to get the size proportionate, this idea alone opens windows.

One of the coolest things ever !! :43:

wow!

Paul was on vacation for a while (just like I was), but he has done some more work on Nanner Puddin.

Paul didn't like the chainstays on the big screamer so he cut them out and stretched them at the BB end a bit. Looks much better now!
- I like it. I looks like it makes it a little less tapered too. Pronounces the fatness more, but still flows very well.

He also prepped the dropout joints for some cool tapered cap joints.

Today he started on making a large Screamer banana seat for me today. It's looking great so far and has that signature rear deck of a true Screamer. It's fun seeing this come to life!

@pvwacko is killing it!

The top pan is just about finished. Man, if we put some roller skate wheels on the seat it would look like an old top fuel dragster! The suspense of watching this remotely is killing me. Thanks @pvwacko !!!!

Paul trimmed the sides of the stock 5 speed shifter since it wasn't going to be able to wrap the upscaled frame. He matched the taper of the top tubes pretty well, so the shifter is gonna fit very well on the frame. Also he confirmed my rough guess that the 5 speed shifter would work fine with the Nexus 3 speed hub. He is going to tack weld the holes for 2nd and 4th gear, then I'll replace the gear number decal with some custom graphics for the new 1st-2nd-3rd indicators.
