It's here. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the light. Feels real solid. Nice quality glass. Been following a few different tutorials for applying the film.

Looking for a few LED tutorials and this seems to be the best. Towards the end of the build I'll look at possibly doing this, but shrink it to fit inside the light.

Moved the rear shifter this morning. A bit obtrusive where it was. Removed the exisiting tab bracket and moved it to the rear. Only requires 1 of the brackets not both. Not sure why it was done with 2. Possibly strength or for looks.

Tig Welded the bracket. No crazy stacked dimes for me. Just enough strength to hold it on for life. Tig welding is fairly new to me. Practiced a bit but it's about as good as I'm going to get. A lot more relaxing than MIG or Stick.

Welder is an ESAB Caddy. Stick and Tig.

Killer base bike to start from. Very cool parts and that light is superbly wicked!

Ground back old mounting points and then welded them back up. First coat of filler on the shifter bracket. Real thin as I got the bracket flush. Etch Primer and Primer Filler. Will give a light sand tomorrow and see how it's all come out. Blending seems good so far.

Should have really got the frame sandblasted first.

Replacement shifter mechanism came in today. Previous one was a bit rough, plastic cover was cracked.

Yellow tint film came in also. Shoved in the mailbox to give the corner a nice fold. As expected. You think if your business on eBay was selling stickers you would have a Do Not Bend on the outside

I don't expect much from eBay any more. I try everything I can to avoid it... For years it was awesome, no issues fast shipping etc... but within the last couple years I've had too many headaches to deal with. Somehow their quality control has completely deteriorated. That or I have horrible luck.

Yea that was an idea also. I have had pretty good experience with the Tamiya Translucent Paint. It's a poor man's candy. Don't judge me on previous builds.

If the film doesn't work, I have seen some of the Datsun guys use a spray, similar to that night lens stuff but yellow. Not sure where they get it though.

There is a variety of transculent paint sprays manufactured mostly for rice- car tuners, cheap but the quality is adequate to the price... (it's poor)

First attempt, not so good. Will try again but that will be the last of the material. Heat gun probably focus too much rather than a spread.

Doesn't help that the glass is so intricate with the raised sections in 3 different directions.

Thankfully Ozlow can paint on the inside of the lens, so it shouldn't get scratched up!

Dig the headlight. I also plan on doing tinted headlights .

That's the plan now. I guess similar to the Lexan RC Bodies. That's what I use to use the paint for, and as you said I can avoid any scratching cause it will be painted on the inside.

How is the glass on the other side? Also like this or smooth? Could you apply it on the inside?

Glass was a little smoother on inside. I tried an offcut there. Was going to be easier but wasn't as yellow. I would say half the strength of the colour on the outside.

I could have avoided all this. For an extra $10 they had them with the yellow lens, but I wanted to try my self. No use in just buying everything as is. A lot more fun doing it yourself I think.:39:
