I have started to collect all the parts necessary to put together a board track inspired frankenbike but I need some advice/help. I have a 56' Murray frame and a Columbia repop springer front fork. With those in mind I have been looking at wheels and tires and I am at a loss. I had really wanted to go for cream Fat Franks but I don't think I have the room. My next thought was a set of Quick Bricks as I know that a 2.125 tire has room. Here is my quandary: I want that vintage balloon look so aside from Franks and the Bricks is there any other cream tire I should look at and I'm thinking steel rims but do I go with 26x1.75 or 26x2.125?
Lastly, does anyone know what the seat post diameter on these old Murrays and where to source a laid back seat post?
Thanx in advance, I want to start getting parts put together but I don't want to start ordering and then having things not work out.
Dan

I think the cream brick tread Duro tires are pretty fair for cheap tires. Also a round profile and roll smooth (26x2.125).
But the Fat Franks are awesome if you have the room.
I had never had any Quick Brick tires (yet anyway ;)).

Hmmmmm. I didn’t know about the Duros. Now even more to think about.
I agree about the Franks, I just don’t think I have the room, and I don’t want to order them just to find out they don’t fit.

Did some mock up work today. Trying to figure if I want a back fender.

I have mixed 2.35 Fat-Franks in front, with 2.15 Big-Bens in rear; both may have the reflex stripes.

For lower cost, I have also mixed Schwinn-brick front, with Goodyear-diamond rear; (Duro's or some other no-namers).

My only Murray-built seat post is seized; might be 13/16" in 1963 space bike.

I almost forgot - Continental Retro-Ride tires in cream color (reflex) in sizes of 2.0 and 2.2" inches. I have used the 2.2's on a cruiser and 2.0's in place of 1.75" middle weights. They may cost a bit less than the Schwalbe's.
