those shifters are real nice,I seem to be drawn to nice shifters,its the first thing I look at on any customized bike

I agree. All the custom bikes I build have an integrated jockey style shifter. It just oozes coolness.
Another long day that I ended early. Started off by soldering up some wires and a switch to the 59 caddy tail light after converting it to an LED pod. It's going to look hella cool at night...it kind of glows.

Then things kind of got weird. First and for most I had the heater on in the shop yesterday and wore long pants and a hoody. Today I had the fans running for most of the day.
I pulled a standard sissy bar out of stock and cut the last two holes off. We don't need no stinkin' extra holes.
I called up a buddy of mine and scammed a set of longboard wheels from him. Transparent Purple to be exact. Then my wife (being one of the top roller derby girls around) gave me some bearings. I fabbed up the sissy to take the wheels and bearing with a machined rod running through the middle and topped them all off with polished acorn nuts. Then I pulled some 5/8" aluminum tube out of stock and cut it to the right size, did some magic and finished up Chop's version of the Whamo-O wheelie bar that we all love and adore.
once everything was radius and all the edges sanded smooth I went to the polishing wheel. Yes, my most hated tool in the shop. It's hot, sweaty, and gets me feeling all dirty....

Final product without breaking the bank. It took about 2 hours and I have maybe $50.00 into it. You can't beat that with a stick.

On a side note I sent a picture of the bike as it sits now to my dad. His reply was "The price of 16" wheels has went up since I bought you one 35 years ago for that bike but if you want I'll buy you another one". I thanked him for the offer but told him I can buy my own wheels now. At his age I am somewhat surprised that he even remembered my old Spyder...It was one of "those" moment that made me wish he lived closer so we could spend some time in the shop together. If we did I might even let him listen to that 60's country music on 8-track he is so fond of instead on Slayer and Cramps and my Ipod.
oh yeah, before I forget I grabbed a new springer (the other one is my mock up fork that is beat to crap) and installed along with a neck I found in a box. The neck looks like a butterfly steering wheel so I thought it was rather fitting.
I really like that set up for your wheelie bar. I was thinking of adding one for my son's Derelict. We've got a ratty sissy. I'll see what I can do.

That is a gasser styled 55 Chevy 210 running an injected 427 big block. It's a street legal race car. Hot rods need to be pre-1949 (even though the NSRA stupidly changed the rules a few years back). We won't go into the definition of "rat rod" as it is not allowed around here but I can say that I am not a fan.

The last pic in this post that don't look like a 55 I may be wrong but that looks to be a 30's style grill and a headlight in a headlight bucket and 1 leaf spring parallel to the axle ?? I think he's talking about your Hemi powered bucket. Only car I see in the pics.

I though you were talking about the gasser on the wall. Sorry about that. That car is my 24 Ford RPU. It is Hemi powered. Originally a 331 Chrysler now punched to 348 with high comp pistons, big cam, oversized valves and the likes. I finished the car about 7 years ago and it's more than a handful to drive. Poor thing doesn't get driven nearly as much as it should.
D-oh! Been a while since I saw it. Sorry I called it a bucket! At least I got them Hemi powered right.

Rebuilt the rear derailleur. Poor thing was just worn out. New vs old.
Pulled some apes off the shelf then dug around for some NOS red dots I knew I had stashed in a secret place. Made some brake cable and cut down an NOS kickstand I had for a 26" to fit.

I also built a 20" front. Its old stock and not chromed. I'm not Sure if I like it yet. I may just order a new one since I don't have any chromed hoops around.
