While going through my bike parts stash for an upcoming swap meet, I ran across this mud flap.

If I had two I’d be tempted to add them to the Laid-Back bike. Or it would work on the front by itself. But then I’d have to do more photos for sure
I remember my childhood rat bike had one on the front fender. We lived in a dirt street and it worked well.

When you are bored and sorting through swap meet parts...Son of Laid-Back gets mocked up.
1958 JC Higgins frame, donor 26” wheels/tires from Laid-Back mock-up, Schwinn stem and NOS Sunlite touring bars. I have a couple of chains and saddles.
Could be swap meet bound or a future project. It’s hard to part ways with this stuff...

Gotcha, so far so good.

Kingfish also. Bird build off down the road?

PeeWee would be proud.

I’ve looked at some stuff like those.

Maybe a bird theme build off down the road.

If i only knew earlier i could send you one like that. That's an old Polish military canteen, and I have tons of those in my postapocalyptic stuff.

Took a load of parts and bikes to a Swap Meet this weekend. I took a diy project bike, a former RRB Build Off bike, a custom rat rod bike, an original paint ‘47 bike, a fairly new reproduction middleweight bike, and a Frankenstein rat rod bike. Lots of interest and compliments, talking money not so much. I was willing to make some deals but I wasn’t interested in giving them away. We sold quite a few parts and I traded a ‘40s girls frame for a Motobike frame with maybe a ‘20s truss fork. Sunday it rained on my open load as we headed home.

Stopped for gas at a real “Full Service” Station. I didn’t realize they still existed.

Full Service? Wow, haven't seen one of those since before the turn of the century.
Don't see many Phillips stations either.

One question, did they wash your windows, even though it was raining out?

And, that's a pretty good per gallon price for full service. We're 10 cents higher, and do all the work ourselves.

The Phillips brand is shrinking for sure, still have a presence in Midwest. There was another small one in a KC area a few years ago. They did mechanical service stuff and someone would come out and pump gas on request.

Full Service may be somewhat of a misnomer. I was pumping my own gas when I noticed the sign. The station did have a two bay garage for service stuff and advertised NAPA certified service. No window washing, oil checking, air adding, vacuuming or quick look under the hood as they used to do when I started driving. When I started driving gas was around 18.9 cents per gallon and during gas wars between stations might get down ton 12.9. A dollars worth got you quite always, big spender if you got two dollars worth.

I hauled a wagon and a Motobike frame and fork home from the El Torreon Swap Meet this past weekend. I noticed it has some similarities with the Laid-Back TransWorld Build frame. With RustyGold’s research and input it may be a 1930 28” Schwinn Motobike frame. The frame and fork have been painted a bright blue, I guess that’s what got my attention, it said look at me.
The threads were a little rough on the blue fork so I added a rusty truss fork that I had...future project.

The tire clearances at the rear triangle and fork are definitely less indicating a pre-balloon 28” tire bike. Serial number seems to indicate 1930.

Now that I see it in the background:
Did you develop any plans for that cool tractor hood from last year?

Gesendet von meinem K00Y mit Tapatalk
I still have a plan/idea in mind...I was going to use it in the #14 Build Off but the Laid-Back Motobike showed up and moved to the front. Glad you remembered and noticed.

That's what I thought when I saw the hood. Oh well LaidBack is cool as is. Maybe next time for the hood?

Son of Laidback sure doesn't look like a SOL bike to me. :D

Maybe the new blue frame then will fit the bill.

I was joking about the normal use of the term SOL :D
