Not a bad idea Chad T, didn't think of that one. A lot of the motorized bike guys use double cable levers, that would make things even easier. Definitely something to take into consideration.

Thanks G-Matt! I've been in Cape Cod all week, so the progress came to a screeching halt. But it is much needed r&r with the wife and family, so I can't complain. I would agree with you Luke, but with a 140mm rotor on there, the caliper doesn't sit down all the way, it rubs against the flange on the hub. It's only seeing about 75% contact area. I think I'm going to go with Chad T's earlier recommendation and put a second caliper on there. I found a set of calipers that look a little more svelte, so they should sit lower on the rotor. I can mount them side by side on the front of the hub, probably easier than my original location anyway. Plus, I think it'll look pretty bada**

Vacation was wonderful, did a few miles on the Shining Sea bikeway with the wife. Views were beautiful, and the weather was very nice. Break time is over though, time to get busy. I was up bright and early, I've got a lot of work to do. I hope to have the bike in final riding form by Monday evening. From there is disassembly and paint. I got the dropouts in place for the hub first.

I was able to get away without an idler for the rear chain, but not so lucky with the front. Tiny idler roller will keep the chain off the frame. Also, I think that red will be the fender color, with metal flakes of course.

Bracket for the brake calipers is beginning to take shape. I'm thinking a small L-shape bracket to connect the ears of the calipers, and then a bracket for the bottom chainstay. The goal is to make them removable, so as to not encase the rear hub.

Here is what I came up with, needs streamlining and cleaning, but you get the idea. The smaller ear at the bottom will be tapped, and the second caliper bolted to it. That's all for today, unfortunately my lawn won't mow itself. Maybe that should be my next project, a roomba for lawns.

Story of my life, someone else thought of it first. My wife said I should make it remote control like in "Honey I shrunk the kids". I seem to remember things not working out well in that flick, haha.

Kinda hard to see with all the shiny bits in the way, but the caliper brackets are complete. One bolt on the top, and a bracket welded to the frame at the bottom to bolt the second caliper to. That allows the caliper assembly to be removed, for access to the hub.

Next we are on to the handle bars. As with the rest of the build, they will need to be fabricated. Going to need about 1.5'-2' of sweep back. Going to try and connect at a point in the front. I mitered some tubes for the riser section of the bars.

Unfortunately I don't think it will be a rider this week. I don't have a local supplier of tubing for the bars, and I need to redo the rear hub. I am going to take the time waiting for materials to work on primer and filler for the frame. I also need to paint the wheel. I want to do black with polished spoke faces.

Finished the risers and modified the clamps for the handlebars. That's about all I can do with them until tubing arrives.

Now it's on to disassembly and paint prep. I started with the caliper bracket. Finished all the sharp corners, rounded edges, and sanded for primer.
