First an acid soak to remove the rust, then Birchwood Casey Plum Brown gun browning solution. I put the parts on my woods stove to heat them, some parts needed gentle heating with a propane torch. Then I put Penetrol drying oil over it. It has been 4 years without further treatment. I did not polish the gun browning, which makes for a shinny brown.
