Re: BEER RUN - Bomber Beer Bottle Tank

I am not done yet. I am desperately trying to track down one to two bottles of New Belgium Breweries Super Cru beer. The closest ones are almost 2 hours aways. These are the larger bomber bottles (22 oz). I am planning on using one or two side by side as my bike tank.

Look at the painted design on the bottle and you will see why I really want this bottle. If not I will use one of the other Lips of Faith series of beers since the have cool artwork and it is a painted bottle and not a paper label.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Bottle Tank Mockup "Madness"

Went by Habersham Beverage today and picked up a New Belgium "La Folie" sour brown ale. La Folie means The Madness. I think I am going to stick with this bottle. The design is more intricate than the Super Cru and matches the bike well. Here is the tank mock up with tape.

And here is it with copper plate hanging strap. This is the general route I am going to take.

Re: BEER RUN - copper water heater tube headlight bracket

Found this cool piece of copper at HD. It is going to be the bracket to my beer can headlight.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Light and Bracket

A little dremel work to a beer can, a Harbor Freight flashlight and an old bike light lense and reflector and I have my temporary beer can light. I plan on using the Billy Beer can for the final light. The rear hole is smaller so that the battery cap actually secures the light to the can. I crimped the ends of the copper pipe and riveted the beer can on.

Dude, I am digging the whole build, but the headlight is awesome!! You deserve a frosty beverage!

Thanks, it was amazing how simple it was. The obvious thing would have been to lay the can sideways, but I really wanted it to be sitting up like a regular beer. Plus the flashlight was perfect. I had picked up a lot of old bike lights and parts last month from ebay and the old reflector and lens worked great.

I wish that the old beer cans would get here before the weekend, but it looks like they won't arrive until Monday.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Bottle Tank and Beer Can Headlight

can you get a DUI for having an open container on a bicycle? :x :p

"officer it is part of my bike! I swear!"

Well the bottle tank I can (and probably will) put a cap on. If I try to drink from the headlight can, I will really get LIT!

Savannah is actaully pretty cool. You can walk around with "GO CUPS" from bars.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Bottle Tank and Beer Can Headlight

I am thirsty for more; can't wait to see what's next. Digging the tank & headlight.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Bottle Tank and Beer Can Headlight

Thanks, it is going to be a fun weekend. The old beer can colllection was just delivered so I have plenty of material to work with.

Plus, one of my flips just sold. I just sold a GT mountain bike for $175 that I paid $40 for. This bike was spotless when I bought it and ALL I did was put air in the tires and post photos on craigslist. Some of this money will pay for my BEER RUN bike build. The rest will be drank wisely as part of my Re-Cycle Bikes for Beer program. Cheers!

WAY TO GO!! GREAT AND GETTING BETTER ...NGTB!! PEACE

Re: BEER RUN - Headbadge and seattube badge

I mocked up some beer can fenders, but I think it is toooo much. I like the fenderless look on this bike.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Tailights

Started mocking up some tailights out of two ABC red and green beer cans. I like the metalic paint on these.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Chainguard and Chainring

Played around more with some of the beer cans.

Wrapped the chainguard in beer can metal.

Also, Here is something I am thinking about with the original Schwinn chainring. I would probably paint is a color that provided more contrast to the beer cans.

I am not sure about either of these ideas yet. I don't want the build to look too cartoony, and I have a feeling the chainguard may be a bit much.

Opinions?????????

Unlike beer pong, there is no such thing as too much in this game! Gopher it.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Taillights and Headbadge

Nah, not too much, looks like a beer can/bottle theme bike, seems acceptable. I think cartoony would be doing it up with candy wrappers. haha

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Taillights and Headbadge

I kind of like both ideas! Hiccup! But then again, I like beer!

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Taillights and Headbadge

Thanks for the feedback. I will will mock it up later and see. I had to break away and go to a moving sale. For $40 total, I picked up a Specialized Crossroads hybrid bike, a heavy duty bike lock, a floor bike pump with built in gauge, a high end skateboard, a Yakima bike rack, and a 32 GB SD memory card.

I will get back on my build this afternoon.
