Wsup all,
I guess it all started in the 70s for me. Born in '65 parents bought me a Yamaha 60cc motorcycle in '73 to dirt bike with them. Always had a BMX bike , ( that started off as a Stingray and was converted ! Geez I wish I could find pics of that! ) . Then a hiatus from bikes- 80s / 90s / 00s / 10s/ not much biking just lots of partying, snowboarding / surfing / kiteboarding / heavy metal band / Oh ya and finnaly a real job / life ha ha !
ALways wanted to get into mountain biking and one day ~6 years ago I just said F it and bought one , started riding at my local trails which turned out to be some of the best on the East Coast ( Frederick Watershed ) . I embarked on a custom Enduro bike build in August 2019 and while researching I came across some vintage restoration videos and it really resonated with me. I wanted something to cruise around at the beach when we RV camp near Ocean City , Md so I purchased an old Typhoon for $40 and now I'm hooked ! I originally wanted to do a Full original restoration but ( with the help of the people over at THECABE it morphed into this mainly because I want a cool bike that rides well. I also just discovered the Klunkerz movie loved all of that .... !!
I'm loving all the cool bikes here and cant wait to jump in with you'all! Ive purchased a bunch of old Schwinns from CL and have lots of projects lined up !

Thanks for the welcome's everyone!
What is the best place to ask questions about finding parts, restoration techniques , custom design, etc. This forum seems to be kind of advanced with the builds and discussions but I like it !!.

You can go as "Beginner" as you want. Most will be supportive and helpful. I was brand new when I joined, started my first build here, only got flak from one guy.

I usually search for my question first. (It may have already been answered). Search the entire web or this site. If you don't find the answers to the questions you seek, at least you can gain knowledge to refine your question and start a new thread to ask it. Lots of good info in the "how to" section here.

Just watch builds or build off to get ideas. Also look under how to or the differed galleries to see what other folks have done. For instance there are headlight galleries and tank galleries. Any creative or assembly you post will have people interested. I like all bikes and post stuff from real rusted maggot American balooners, old 3 speeds, vintage mountain bikes to vintage track and road bikes. You’ll have fun, guarteneed.
