The only vintage bike I saw fit to take home from an auto junkyard was a 1973 Huffy Escape 3 speed women's bike that I parted out.

That is one of those holy grail Huffy bikes. That Twin Stick shifter is one of the toughest ones to find! I'm sure you've had some offers on just the shifter already!
