3 British Finds - age estimate of Raleighs appreciated!

glad you got these english bikes, and managed to date them. i would say they are all about right, but that perhaps the quadrant equipped bike could be immeadiately post war, when we had the export drive on. anyway sweet finds

    newbee from essex uk

welcome, fellow uk member. brat rods as they appear to have been named seem to be the most popular basis for lowriders over here, and another has joined the ranks. i built one and it rode ok, but as with yours the rust got at it! loving the paint by the way. mine equipped with 36 hole coaster...

Couple sweet old ladies from Benton

they're pretty good. much better than modern shimano rubbish. they are old and english, and that therefore means that the built quality is good (in most cases). note how the chrome is still good as it is quality.

    Snagged a Cycle Truck

if it wasn't prepped properly you may be able to get the original paint back- use some wire wool and either t-cut or cellulouse thinners. gets it of a treat. just don't go crazy. doesn't seem to touch the factory paint. nice bike btw, reminds me of the old butchers bikes from over here

    cheap (and free) bikes

went to a car boot sale today and picked up this. i believe it is a raleigh chipper, minus bars, seat and chainguard, and should look like this: funny it appears to have retained its original tyres?! saw it a few weeks back for £10, and passed it by. the bloke was there again today, had a...

The King of Cowley County has left the building.

Re: The King of Cowley County pallet your paint on the cover of a glossy magazine. thin it until you can just pull it along the magazine without drag. your paint will stripe more evenly and i find you get a better result. good luck and remember to show us how you get on (bleeds and all  )

    'Ey up...

glad to be a help. that would be good on an old diamond frame instead of a sturmey, as it is 1 3/8". i saw that one a while back, and decided to build my own and it cost £2. i had a 1 3/8" rim in the garage and a choice of hubs (makes you sick ey  ) and decided on a secondhand ss Komet than...
