Tried the WD-40 bath as suggested by @Pedal_junky . Then cleaned with citrus degreaser & then coated it with 2 coats of Meguiers cleaner wax.

Gift from a friend . Haven't picked it up yet. I don't plan on changing much. Probably just rust removal, new pedals & tires & Chain and perhaps a sprung Brooks leather saddle.
