Seems like a simple enough approach and marketing campaign. Great idea actually, new or unique, well, that can be argued.
One thing is for sure, if this shows any sign of popularity, the big names will introduce a line of belt driven bikes too and force boutique builders (like this guy) out of business.

Hard to imagine that they raised $550,000 in 30 days.

The frame looks awfully compact. It looks like the front tire will hit the pedals when turning and your hands will practically be on your hips.

How do you get the belt on and off the frame? I rode a belt driven bike once and it was pretty nice but I'm not sure if buy one.

It appears that part of the right seat stay is removable.

There was a Gary Fisher commemorative 29er, the Sawyer , that had the option for belt drive. There was a section of the right stay that removed, so you could change the belt.

I thought it looked like there were screws in the tube but I wasn't sure.
