70s Vista esquire

Picked this up last night for 9 bucks Going to it put on the weight loss program Drop all of the heavy steel parts the boat anchor crank and bars and add a single speed wheel set Going to keep the fenders though because there so awesome should be a quick turn around seeing how I have all the right parts already

I had to do some filing in the bottom bracket shell and to the berring cups in order for them to fit in the frame

and a little on the fork drop outs

I could'nt use them stem I wanted to and had to go with the stronglight crank This is where I left off

I'm really not happy with feel of the bike right now theres to much drop from the seat to the bars Thinking I will put a new fork on so I can use the high rise stem and bring the bars up

Here's a few pics after the changes I went with a new 700c fok I had and a higher stem added the fenders and a basket

Im going to add a rear rack and a few leather details tommorow

Those Stronglight cranks are a ISO taper bottom bracket spindle. I'm guessing that bottom bracket is JIS. Not a good match. It'll ruin the crank arm, or crack it if it isn't already.

Beautiful bike. The Vista bike were only available in the Midwest. My old business partner met the family that ran it. Some of them are still around.

The cranks have been run on JIS taper before with no problems They seat on the spindle good thanks for the heads up though
