Hey! That's a different stem. A different, and much cooler stem. I really like that thing. I've not seen one ( or at least not noticed ) like that with the clamp bolt on the rider side of the handlebar.

Pre-war Knuckle stem it's the right one for this bike, the other one is pre-war but off a girl's CWC

I picked up the original rack tail light, from a Cabe member.

That rack light is wicked

Worked on the seat and wheels today, got the seat apart and soaking in cleaning vinagar. Took the pans to my bench grinder with a brush wheel, then hit then with some boild linseed oil.

Disassembled the wheel set, so I can re-lace with the correct pre-war ND hubs.

Love those seats. I have used a couple of them now as bare (painted) saddles and they are actually very comfortable with no cover or padding.

Ya I was debating on whether or not to cover the seat, thinking leaving it a bare metal pan might add to the ratty bare metal aesthetic the whole bike has.

Slowly but surely !

I feel your pain . Looks great and we have plenty of time .
I'm building wheels also , but when I put the rear wheel in the truing stand I discovered the rear axle is bent . :speechless:

Yaaaa that sucks ! Bent axles are a pain. My wheels came apart really easy, so rebuilding them should be straight forward. But time consuming as usual .

laced up the rims !! In all honesty I completely forget how to do these, and have to relearn the pattern. But once ya get it down they come together fast, only had to redo one side. Finished them after about 4 hours of burning the midnight oil.

Sneak peek, went on a 2am test ride the other night. Had to replace the worn-out rear cog with a back up I had. After that it road smooth as butter no rubbing or clicking.

Test ride #2

Wow this bike rides nice !! Shockmaster forks are like riding on a cloud mixed with the springer seat it just floats down the road.

I've got a few more goodies coming in the mail so stay tuned in.

Solid riding bike with a rat on rat look? Can't do any better than that! Scribbs you've done it again!

Thanks Odd ! But I'm not done I've got accessories coming. And I've been playing with the idea of doing a home brew patina paint job on the bare metal parts. Will see out it goes :cool2:

Yeah, I didn't mean 'done - done'. It was a play off a phrase from the 1960's, and not fair to you since you were not even a 'glimmer' back then!

What I meant to say is, "You're accomplishing another coolrat rod bike build, again!"

Always cool when build get to that riding stage. Looks great.
Can't wait to see the goody bag.

Experimenting with paint colors think I nailed down some good matches.
Shot the color on some old bars and did a little testing with faux patina.

Another TV reference far before your time, Scribbs!
