I got today a Miyata 912. All Shimano 600, except brake levels. The lady who owned it changed the original ones with safety brake levels.
But I still have a pair of Shimano 600 in the basement waiting for the right bike.
Pictures as I bought.

Back in business.
I got this Miyata 710 for 50$
And the Cannondale for 20$.
But the Miyata brought me another two bikes: a green 53 Roadmaster and a 57 Schwinn Jaguar. The Roadmaster will go to California.

And a 1994 GT Strike with Camapgnolo Stratos components, Mavic wheels.
Poor condition, missing seat post and seat, and the brake levers/shifters. But I think it worth the 30$ paid. In the pictures is only F/F.

Pair of Giant bikes, early 2000.
The TCR is equipped Campagnolo Veloce. The OCR is Shimano Tiagra.

I bought this old 71 Schwinn for twenty bucks, and then threw a 700c/Nexus-8/hybrid wheelset on it to give it a try.

But I don't think it would work for me. It's just too big, or I'm too old maybe, to be up so high and all hunched over.
Might try putting the original chrome wheels on a slightly lower and slightly longer 80's Tange mtb frame if they'll fit. Fifteen speeds then.
And some more upright bars.
The old Schwinn's destiny is a donor.
