I've always had the plan of building my very own rat rod cruiser type of bike.
But I never had the time for one nor the intention of buying one.
Mainly because I spent most of my money on my other bikes, my house and my art.

So there I was, taking the walk from the subway to my home when I saw a scrapped cruiser thrown on top of some other old bikes.
The frame was ok, though in rough shape.

After some furious sanding I put a coat of primer on it.

So, now what to do with this baby? I somehow craved the idea for a boardtracker build.
I like old cars, bikes. We have great vintage dutch bikes over here.
Anyway you don't see these type of (american) bikes here very often, let alone a boardtracker.
Cruisers are becoming a trend here in the netherlands, but most off them are cheap chinese copy's.

The frame was painted in chocolate brown.
In the meantime I found some rusty old forks.
They will do for the moment I guess

I painted the rearwheel now freshly spoked to a nice chrome coaster brake hub
in flat-black. Nice ghetto paintjob.

Then found some bars, which also turned to black.

A first mock-up, with some new schwalbe fat frank's

My plans for finnishing this ride.
- maybe some pinstriping or graphics
- some nice 3-piece cranks
- A nice saddle ( a lepper or a brooks)
- maybe a springer or monark fork.
- or some forkstruts

suggestions, idea's, comments are more then welcome!

I like it! I think a tan seat would look good, match the grips. Just a thought.

A fellow dutchman I see!
I wouldn't know which frame it was actualy.
Some cheap Schwinn copy, or maybe it was a sparta bad bullet.
Love to see pics of youre bike

Yes, a tan brooks or Lepper is already being searched after.
Any idea's I should do with the forks?
They look kinda dull to me.

brand new brooks seats are costly like 70 euros and that are cheap ones atleast at my bike shop where i work.
some cheap second hands are availble just look around, or ask at your local bike shop

i almost finishd my bike so will post some pictures when i have the time.

Actualy, the frame is a very dark shade of brown. Like chocolate or ...
The paintjob itself is a rattle can job, turned out pretty nice & ratty.
Dutchunirider wasked which frame I had, he thought it was a Sparta Bad Bullet.
And he said he was building something similar with the forks from a nirve streetking.
I'm curious how that is turning out for him.

Thanx for all the comments, this board has such a positive vibe!
I've already found a saddle, a tan 'lepper primus'.
For those not familiar with Lepper, they are a dutch saddle making company since 1897
I'm thinking about maybe putting on a nice headlight, I'll be back soon with more updates

I couldnt wait.
A few weeks ago I went to visit a good friend, so I slapped it together to make it ridable.
Took the train, and rode the last few miles to his house in the south of the Netherlands.
It turned out great, rode real smooth. Didnt have no brakes at all (but that isnt a big deal since this part of the Netherlands is completely flat)
Still some tweaks to be done, the seat position (the seatpost slipped on me, hence the skyward position) brakes, and rearwheel alignment.
other then that, I think I want to keep it like it is now.
Maybe some other bars, some cut moonbars perhaps. Or I am going to fabricate some of my own.
