I've got a wheelset that has natural brass colored spokes on one wheel and the other has newer plated (?) brass nipples. I want to get them to match, so does anyone know what that plating (are they plated? coated?) is, and can it be removed to get to the natural brass underneath? Maybe muratic or hydrochloric acid?

Are those nipples brass or anadysed gold? It would probably be easier to just build a new wheel set.

Cool lamp!

Whatever the approach, you're going to have to remove the nipples from the wheel, so you might as well replace 'em with the brass ones you REALLY want. They only run $5-10 for 100 pieces.

Swap them out one at a time and you might even get away without needing to true the wheel...much.
