    TRADITIONAL Midnight Flash

I think they look better with the spacers, it looks more like real dice (which they are) and not a block shaped like to look dice.

I filed the razor sharp points off the drops, but they are still dangerous. I'm smoothing them out and giving them some paint. They should look like 14kt gold when done.

    UNLIMITED Triple Threat

I needed a third wheel, so I ordered a hub and rim, and scrounged up some spokes. The rim showed up today and I had it laced up in 15 minutes. It's a red rim but it's only 18 bucks and the hub 12 bucks. Same rim as the other two. I might go with red rims and paint the other two, or have them...

It might be just as easy to fab up a new brake arm that reaches further.

I had to use a clamp like a press for the BB cups, so I thought the headset cups might go in that way. I used the big clamp again and pressed them in.

    UNLIMITED Triple Threat

Almost ready to work full time on it after finishing my traditional build. The time is needed to identify problems before I chop something up or get things welded. I have to go to town for welding, my home welder guy got banned from the neighborhood. Evidently he wasn't completing work on...

I learned that on a 56 X53 I restored back in 1977. Up and over!

If the springer is flipped forward, you won't have the stops to keep the tire from contacting the fork and causing a crash.

The bike shop says they have caps that will fit this frame, so I'm going there tomorrow, no electricity all day so it's a road trip day. I'll take some standard caps with me as I don't think they have the right size. I also asked if they could get that frame in a 26" size. That would be the...

    TRADITIONAL Pensioner

None of the shims worked, even the 27.2 made for this frame, so I had to grind out a bigger slot in the shim so it would go in. Now the old layback post is set. I set up my angle grinder gadget to get some cuts done on the dropout extensions. Then I mounted them to the frame to see how...

Magic? :21: Pure luck is more like it. My scrap bin has parts of a dozen forks chopped up and various bits of metal tubing from ideas that didn't pan out. I have a 25 to 1 ratio of things that actually work out. It makes for a big celebration for the thing that works. 🥳

    ORBO Step-Thru Klunker

On those old Schwinns, frame integrity is good. The step through frames that failed are those made later, in the late 60's and 70s where they were made more cheaply. The seat tube would bend and change the geometry of the frame.

Those are 26 x 3.0 tires on 57mm rims. The bike probably came with 26 x 2.125 tires. The previous version:

I went to work on the frame again. The pipebender worked but needed more leverage, so I used a wrench to get more pull. I kept the bending to a minimum hoping to save the frame from disaster. After the first try, I checked the wheel. It's not perfect but pretty close and gives enough...

I may do the same to these grips if I ever get an old frame. How did you age them?

Anybody sniffing BO 19 in the air?

Skiptooth drop center wheelset on there. That's a pretty significant change.

I hope to design the rear so the hitchhikers can assist and push with their feet. I'll have to have a handlebar they can use for leverage when I run out of steam. I've looked around but haven't seen anything like a front wheel drive trike with 2 wheels in the rear, much less using fat tires...

    UNLIMITED Triple Threat

Here's my plan. Coffee got spilled on it, it was perfect!:bigboss: 1. Three 26 x 4.0 wheels, 7 speeds, disc brakes. 2. Four tubes running down from the almost vertical headtube, with the upper two tubes to the outside axles of the rear wheels, and the lower two tubes going to the inside...
