    Mongoose Dozer Cruiser build

I don’t know the answer, but curiosity got the best of me and I just spent some time trying to figure this out. There are a couple BBs with 110mm shells on this link. Do you know the spindle length? Why do you need a new BB...

I stand corrected. I guess there is a shortcut! Good to know.

    SPOKE LENGTH FOR BENDIX KICKBACK

Yes. Take your time and use an online spoke calculator. There are no shortcuts. You may need to watch a few YouTube videos to learn how to get your measurements. It’s important to get the correct measurements.

I think the fork is bent

Bent forks are a common problem with antique bikes. I see you are in Virginia. If you are anywhere near Richmond, Robbie and ItsWheelSimple can straighten forks. Since you are not going for a full restoration, you can also have fun finding a replacement from a donor bike. I actually...

Any tricks on removing glare from the tubes? I try to go out on overcast days and always wing up with glare on the top tube. Even if I am in the shade.

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

I am a huge fan of evaporust. Sounds like you figured it out. I have found it works really fast if heated. I keep a tall plastic jar full. The jar is tall enough soak semi large parts like a stem. I keep a small jar for nuts and bolts. Both jars can be heated in the bath of my...

    TRADITIONAL Raleigh-Up

I’m about to ‘seal’ these parts with Boiled Linseed Oil. This is not a tutorial. I have never really found any decent instructions for this. I am just going to mix about 50:50 BLO to odorless mineral spirits and apply with rag. I’ve done it before with decent results. Always put...

Also I like those brake levers. I have used them in the past. Bicycle Photography thread has been created.

    Bicycle Photography

Starting a thread to discuss bicycle photography. A place to ask questions and learn new tricks. I am very much a beginner and believe I am at the start of a huge learning curve. That said don’t consider this initial post professional advice. I will start it off describing the...

    TRADITIONAL It's SUPER ELLIOT!

Nice!! Your photography is great. I am slowly developing in interest. Maybe I should give up bikes and focus my energy there. Ha! It certainly would solve the problem of my garage FULL of bikes. We should start a thread dedicated to photographing bicycles. (If that doesn’t already...

    TRADITIONAL Raleigh-Up

Tonight’s activity was fixing the switch on the horn. I had to take the switch apart and solder the wire back in place. I have never learned to solder. This took me over 2 hours! Just one wire to solder. 70% of the problem is I don’t know what I’m doing. 30% is I can’t see what I’m...

    TRADITIONAL It's SUPER ELLIOT!

Agreed! I have been trying to mimic Dave’s photography methods. We inquired about your method in another thread. I haven’t mastered it yet, but my skills are improving. I can’t quite get the colors to pop. Not to make excuses, but I am also working with a beginner kit lens...

    TRADITIONAL Raleigh-Up

Just rebuilt the peddles. Cleaned them up, new grease and new ball bearings. This was new to me. The cone had two notches that fit into this star washer that prevents the cone from turning when the nut is tightened. Genius design. Not sure why it isn’t used more often? This is the...

    TRADITIONAL Raleigh-Up

Slowly making progress. I have polished and waxed the paint. Looks really nice. I built a new rear wheel with double wall aluminum rims. Plan to build front wheel next. I used 1/4 x 9 caged ball bearings to in the bottom bracket instead of the loose bearings. I still need to find a...
