  1. The Renaissance Man

    UNLIMITED Brood XIX *WIND EATER*

Regrettably, I'm hitting the pause button on this one for now. I'll be focusing my time on the Hoppy in the traditional class. I'll leave the thread active until the end just in case something unforeseen like the Earth's rotation experiences a significant slowdown between now and July 31.
  2. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL It's SUPER ELLIOT!

    One word: InternalCableRouting. :D Nay

    Accessories. (AKA doodads.)
  4. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Iron & Oxygen

Did you color match the burgundy or luck up and buy it off the shelf? Looks like a good match.
  5. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Iron & Oxygen

Excellent! Now repeat the process on the chainguard and your set!
  6. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

So many cowboys and so few bikes. Not to be confused with the Hoss Cartwright mini-bike!
  7. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL The Resu-Trektion

The force is strong with this one.
  8. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

My opening salvo and the hint for a name was all I could offer. No October surprises for this one. I'm learning as much as I can about the Hoppy bikes. So far I haven't seen anything like those pieces. Do you have a picture of how they are used?

Awesome that you found the fenders! It looks great! Keep a close eye on the OA bath. If you leave it too long it will sometimes leave a yellow film on everything that is very difficult to remove.
  10. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

There won't be any 'personal touches' on this one. The Hoppy belongs to a client and I'll be doing what I call a 'Legacy Restoration' on it. That means I will restore it to look like an original paint survivor. In other words, it will (hopefully) look like the original factory paint after years...

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

Here's the chainguard. It was almost dark when I took the picture so it's not the best quality.
  12. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Quasi-Motobike

Nothing like a cold one after grass cutting.
  13. The Renaissance Man

    Show me your cat.

This is Flea. I had him pose as a Halloween cat with a Schwinn pumpkin light about 6 years ago. He was not amused that I stereotyped him because he is black.
  14. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

I took the chainguard out, rinsed, dried and WD-40'd it. There were a couple of spots where the rust was a little deeper and didn't dissolve completely. But I was concerned that the tape would not be a sufficient enough barrier for the plated bracket to chance leaving it overnight, so I went...
  15. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

I'm very stingy about wasting anything. So it was very disappointing to discover that the garbage bag had a tiny pinhole somewhere in it. Fortunately, it didn't leak very much, but any at all is too much. Anyway, I got everything out and brought out a thicker piece of black plastic for the...
  16. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

After around 2 hours I removed the parts and put them in the bath tub to soak in hot water and baking soda. (No photo as I didn't want any evidence that I couldn't deny.) :21: After a short soak, I took them outside, dried them with a towel, and immediately rubbed them down with WD-40 to...

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

Why yes I am Madge, it softens hands while you remove rust.
  18. The Renaissance Man

    UNLIMITED Ratneck Rampage

Even without the awesome stance, the wrench may well be all that's necessary to secure one of my votes two months before the poles open!
  19. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

Wow, almost done in less than an hour!
  20. The Renaissance Man

    TRADITIONAL Hops and Gnarly

I made a container just big enough to hold the rack. It will also work for the chainguard which is a little smaller. I tested the trough with a gallon of water to see if the depth was enough to cover the rack and it was going to be too shallow. So I used some packing peanuts to fill the void...
